As a graduate student studying film and television production and as an editorial intern for both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, I focused on creating diverse and inclusive stories. Diversity is my passion, and Disney is leading the way in diversity and inclusion. Merging with Fox to become the most influential media company in the world, it continues championing underrepresented groups in its stories.
Studying film at the University of Southern California has seen me collaborate with diverse individuals while also mastering inclusive storytelling. I studied half-hour comedy writing (creating an Insecure spec) and one-hour dramatic writing. I furthered my understanding of screenwriting by becoming an intern for Verve Talent and Literary Agency, which allowed me to read, review, and write script coverage for both film and television.
I also studied picture editing, editing seven projects and advancing my knowledge of Avid and Premiere, and earning my first editing assistant position working on an episodic horror for UrbanflixTV. As a fourth semester student, I worked as an editing faculty-student assistant mentoring first-year students acclimating to the school of cinematic arts. Yet, that is not all.
Telling great stories matter to me. Both Variety magazine and The Hollywood Reporter allowed me to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment in print editorial. I pitched and wrote stories about Mayans M.C., Yara Shahidi’s The Sun Is Also A Star, and the Oscar-winning short Period. End of Sentence. I wrote social and political news impacting Hollywood such as Rory Kennedy’s creation of the climate emergency fund.
While at USC, I studied sound design, directing, picture and sound editing, and scriptwriting. All of these skills make me a better storyteller, and I am excited to discuss just how.
